In 1967 the A.C. Gilbert Factory closed forever. Hobby Surplus purchased the American Flyer parts department as well as tons of molded plastic, and assembled rolling stock, accessories and paper.

Although we sold out of many items long ago, we still offer much of the original "Pikemaster" rolling stock for sale.
We also offer original A.C. Gilbert bodies painted and decorated with new road names. These cars are ready to run, complete with trucks.

NEW SERIES OF CABOOSES
Gilbert produced Locos in a variety of road names...but they did not issue cabooses in matching road names.

So.... Hobby Surplus is taking original  Gilbert caboose bodies and producing a series of standard A.F. cabooses in road names to match each of the Locos A.C. Gilbert produced. 

Each body is painted in prototypical colors with authentic heralds and markings.  We are using a state of the art production facility.  The graphics are so crisp and clear that even the tiny markings on the car ends are legible.

Gilbert produced gondola bodies in a variety of popular road names.  Same state of the art production techniques as the Caboose series.  Gondola production is also limited.  We sold out of the first New Haven gondola and have issued a second NH Gon with a new car number.  The 2nd and 3rd Gondolas are available now. We are decorating original A.C. Gilbert produced reefer bodies in the road names originally produced by A.C. Gilbert.  Graphics are printed by use using the original tampo press from the A.C. Gilbert factory. The newly painted ACY Reefers are are now available and  a few Atlantic Coast Lines and Evergreen Reefer are still available. Our supply of reefer bodies is extremely limited-
