SHIPPING AND DELIVERY INFORMATION  

We ship most orders for in stock merchandise within 1-3 working days.  If a product is temporarily out of stock that may delay your shipment.  We will notify you if your order will be delayed more than 30 days.

SHIPMENTS TO ADDRESSES IN THE
CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES

FEES: Our minimum standard shipping and handling fee covers most all shipments via ground service to street addresses with in the continental United States. This fee covers a single standard size carton.  Please provide a street address for delivery when at all possible.  Additional charges may be assessed for large oversize parcels via UPS or shipments which must be shipped via USPS at your request or when a street address is not provided. Typically these additional charges are minor.  See below for details

Typically delivery by ground service should be completed in 1-7 working days after the shipment leaves our warehouse (7 days being from our location in Connecticut to California).

But since delivery is the responsibly of the carrier  we cannot guarantee* any specific delivery date for ground delivery by USPS or UPS.

IF YOU NEED DELIVERY BY A SPECIFIC DATE

Unless you require immediate delivery, ground delivery service is often all that is needed.  However if delivery is required by a specific date please use the special instructions section of the order form to indicate the required date. Please note that  Guaranteed* delivery by a specific date may require an upgrade to UPS 3 Day Select or 1 or 2 day Air Service to a street address. See below for information on how to request this service.

*NOTE: UPS's guarantee of delivery times is conditional upon factors beyond UPS's control such as weather, etc. Shipping charges are non- refundable.

If you wish to upgrade to UPS or USPS Air Delivery Service please request that in the special instructions section of the order form as you finalize your order.  Specify the type of service and date you want the order delivered by. 

Upgrades to  AIR delivery ( UPS 1, 2 , or 3 day  or USPS Priority ) are subject to our standard  S & H fee plus the weight and size based shipping cost assessed by the carrier.  Note: When Upgrading to a Guaranteed* UPS Air delivery it means that after the package leaves our warehouse it is guaranteed* by UPS to be delivered with in the specified transit days. 
For example an order with 2 Day Air delivery placed on a Monday could be processed and shipped by us on Tuesday.  UPS would guarantee* 2 day delivery by Thursday. Saturday and Sunday are not transit days for UPS.  (Saturday AIR delivery is available in some regions for an additional fee.)

SHIPMENTS TO ADDRESSES OUTSIDE THE
CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES

FEES: Shipments outside continental United States are subject to our standard  S & H fee plus:

  1. The weight and size based shipping cost assessed by the carrier.

  2. Associated insurance costs.

  3. Document preparation costs (minimum fee $8.00)

We ship via US Air Mail or UPS Air service at your option.  Please note that if no shipping insurance is available to the destination country we cannot accept  responsibility for the shipment once it leaves our warehouse.  This means that you are entirely responsible for the shipment and can not make any claims if it is lost or damaged.

International shipping costs are subject to distance, weight and size considerations.  We cannot determine the actual cost until the order is  packaged for shipment  then this cost is added to your invoiced amount. Estimated shipping costs for  can vary from 20-40% or more of your order subtotal. Please contact:  CUSTOMER SERVICE if you require an more accurate estimate of the shipping charges that will be added to your order.

Please understand that we cannot estimate or predict in transit delivery times for international delivery by USPS service ( NOTE: International surface parcel post is no longer provided by USPS). It can vary from a few day or weeks to a month or more.  Delivery by UPS AIR service typically takes 3-5 days and the costs for this service can exceed $100 or more.

Shipments That Are Excessively Large or Heavy

  • Shipping excessively large or heavy shipments provided at additional cost
    1. Selected items which are oversize or excessively heavy may be identified as requiring additional shipping cost.  This information will be provided on the website in the detailed description of the product. 
    2. In the case of an order requiring oversize or multiple cartons or an order requiring an excessively heavy shipment we reserve the right to waive our minimum fee and add  to your order total the exact weight / size based shipping rate charged by the carrier. 
      If you require specific shipping cost information when placing an large order email customer service after your order is placed. When requested we will determine the actual weight / size based shipping cost and notify you of this cost prior to invoicing and shipping. Once we receive your approval we will add this cost to your order total.

BACK ORDER POLICY

We strive to maintain a full and complete inventory of over 30,000 unique hobby and toy products. Many of the manufactures that we order from are small and occasionally may have difficulty re-supplying us on time. Please use the special instructions section of our on line order form and choose one of the 3 options to instructions us a how to serve you in the event that an item you ordered is temporarily out of stock: 

  1. Immediately ship all in-stock items. We will back order items expected in 15-45 days and ship them separately. (Separate  S&H Fee charged for each back order shipment.) OR

  2. Hold your order until all items have been filled. (Note: After 60 days we will ship available items and cancel those we cannot supply). OR

  3. Immediately ship all in-stock items and cancel items not available at this time. (We suggest that you re-order in 45-60 days.)

Holiday Shipping Order Guidlines

Below are our guidelines for receiving your orders by December 23.  Please understand that Hobby Surplus cannot guarantee a specific delivery date nor accept responsibility for the actual delivery date of your order.  Following these guidelines should help.  To avoid disappointment we urge you to place your orders as far in advance of the desired delivery date as possible.  

Recommended ordering dates Please place your orders by the following dates if you would like delivery before Christmas. These delivery dates only apply to shipments to street addresses within the continental 48 states in the USA.  ( NOTE: For new customers without a Hobby Surplus account, delivery must be to billing address of the credit card used to pay for the order.)

These order dates apply only to in-stock items.  We strongly recommend that you contact customer service to confirm in stock status if you must receive you order by a specific date:

The standard S&H fee covers ground delivery of one standard sized carton. The actual cost of the upgraded delivery service will be added to the order total show on your order confirmation when your order is packed, shipped and invoiced.  Unless specifically requested when you place your order, Hobby Surplus will not provide notification of the cost for the upgraded shipping.  Note that UPS Air service for mid and large sized items can be expensive.

  • Standard Ground Delivery  LAST DELIVERY 12/24— Review ground delivery transit times for your region and place your order that many shipping days before 12/24. Note:  DO NOT INCLUDE SAT or SUN AS SHIPPING DAYS

  • Three-Day Delivery — Place order by Wednesday, December 19 Noon EST.

  • Second-Day Delivery — Place order by Thursday, December 20 Noon EST. (NOTE: For areas with Saturday Delivery Option available shipments with second day air delivery with extra fee for Saturday delivery can be placed on Thursday, December 20,  Noon EST for Saturday delivery. )

  • Next-Day Delivery — Place order by Friday, December 21, Noon EST. ( For areas with UPS Saturday delivery. These packages can be delivered on Sat 12/22 -WITH Extra Fees Added).

If you have more than one item in your order, the items might not ship together. For example, it is possible to order three items and have them arrive in three separate boxes.
