There's nothing like the satisfaction you'll get from building a wooden model airplane or ship.  With just a little modeling experience and moderate skills you can successfully build  an authentic scale replica using  the same types of building techniques and materials used to construct the real thing.

While all the kits build beautifully detailed replicas that you will be proud to display.  Some of the kits are designed to actually operate- sail on the water or fly through the air .

Wooden ship models have either solid pre-shaped hulls ( display kits ), or hulls you build with plank on frame techniques ( display or operation).  A few of the larger kits designed for operation feature one piece hulls formed from plastic or fiberglass while the balance of the kit is made constructed of wood.  Most kits contain detailed cast metal fittings.

Wooden airplane models for display or operation are built using strips of die-cut wood to construct the air frame which is then covered with tissue balsa or some other material.  As shown in the picture at the right kits may also contain formed plastic detail pieces.
